1) What is your background?
I played volleyball, basketball, and track in high school. I started running for fun after college and began doing a few 10k and half-marathons. I was living in Hawaii in 2012 with my 4 kids and husband and started doing CrossFit and instantly fell in love and I was still running. Two years later, after having another baby we moved to Massachusetts and I did my first OCR and was addicted. OCR has that perfect combination of running and strength, so I could still continue CrossFit which was important to me.
2) Why do you use Oral IV?
As an OCR athlete I need a product that helps me perform at my peak level during a race and I’ve found that Oral IV does just that. It keeps me from cramping and feeling depleted during a long strenuous race and training sessions.
3) How do you prepare and how do you use Oral IV to help?
I usually add an Oral IV to my water in the morning before my workout session, especially a long run. When I have a race, I start taking two per day a couple of days before the race, one the morning of and one after the race for recovery.
4) What is your favorite WOD?
Murph is probably my favorite (1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, 1 mile run). I also really like Filthy 50 and Lumberjack 20…I like the longer, endurance WODs if you couldn’t tell.
5) Favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite would probably be burpees, they suck don’t get me wrong but they are a very effective movement! I also love rope climbs! Least favorite would be the overhead squat, it’s just so awkward and painful.
6) Most memorable event/competition/race?
My most memorable race would probably be getting 1st place at the Charlotte, NC Spartan Sprint. I had a few 2nd or 3rd podium finishes but had never captured that top spot. There were some fierce competitors (Pro Team members) and placing first definitely fueled a fire inside of me to train harder for future races. It was a great win!
7) Advice for newbies to Oral IV?
I would suggest using it during training sessions to see how you feel before using it on race day. Also, it’s great for recovery, which is key to staying healthy and injury free.
